Despite our small size we consistently excel in sport. Our Seniors have a strong history of successfully competing with other Eastern Suburbs schools and the wider Auckland Region in tournaments across many disciplines including Touch Rugby, Netball, Softball, Athletics and Swimming.
At St Joseph's sport is an important part of the curriculum. In addition to the weekly programme, days are allocated each year to outdoor team building and problem solving. All students participate in a range of school sports events during the year such as Cross Country, Athletics and Swimming Sports.
Our small roll allows ample opportunity for a large number of our students to represent their school throughout the year.
Professional swimming lessons are provided each year. St Joseph's annual Swimming Sports are held at Sacred Heart Aquatic Centre with our top performing students competitively representing the school at the Eastern Suburbs Swim Champs.
Children are allocated to one of our four house groups which they will remain in throughout their time at St Joseph's. Children participate in a variety of activities in their house teams. We feel this cross-age comradery is a great way to strengthen the bonds of our close community.
From their first year at school pupils have the opportunity to represent the school in weekly sports competitions in:
- Touch Rubgy
We also provide out-sourced specialist coaching in Tennis, Soccer, Rippa Rugby and Gymnastics either as part of the Physical Education curriculum or as optional extras.
